Friday Morning R&R | 7
week 3 nyc eats, my favorite running shoes, and my current non-alcoholic drink of choice
we’ve reached yet another friday and today is an exciting day because i am finally heading back to San Francisco. my time here in New York was fun and very necessary, but i’m ready to be back in my own bed and to eat a home cooked meal. the only feeling more exciting than the day before a trip is the day you leave that trip - i think it’s a good sign that you’ve built a life you love if you’re excited to head home.
anyway, below is my weekly report along with 21 (i know… i’m sick just thinking about it) new spots i hit this last week here in NYC. i hope you enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!
btw, i’ll be posting the recipes for key lime margaritas, cowboy caviar, and double berry tiramisu in this sunday’s newsletter for paid subscribers.
R — i love reading about people who do things that inspire me. i really love the newsletter
and was excited to see that Ali interviewed Katherine Lewin of B!g Night, one of my favorite shops here in nyc. i stopped into the store this week and ended up chatting with a couple employees & they couldn’t have been kinder.E — it’s my last week in New York City and i have one final food guide for you below. i’ll be consolidating these reccs into an NYC food guide in the next couple of weeks! week 3 highlights include: the hardest reservation to get in nyc right now, the hottest bagel spot in the city, and an italian combo sandwich that blew my mind.
P —if you think you’re too cool for the Netflix reality universe, i feel bad for you. liking reality TV does not make you superficial or annoying… it makes you human. who doesn’t want to watch a bunch of 20 to early 30-somethings get black-out drunk, fight, and makeout? it’s the cornerstone of american culture. anyway, Perfect Match is ridiculous and fun and if you need to dissociate from real life for a bit, i highly recommend watching.
O — amaro falso has been my non-alcoholic drink of choice this trip. most bars offer it in a cool rocks glass and i like that it tastes like a less sweet & more bitter diet coke.
R — i have been looking for new running shoes for a while. i tried hokas (hate them) and then Lulu Lemon’s (they don’t fit right), and finally snagged a pair of On’s two months ago. happy to report they’re the best shoe i’ve ever run in. they fit so well and i love how lightweight they are!
T — i treated myself to a garmin watch as a triathlon training motivator. i’ve used it for every workout and i really love it. it connects to my headphones without having a phone present so i don’t have to run w my phone! the stats on it are great, though i really only use it for low level stuff like heart rates zones. i still use my oura ring for sleep, etc. but i know this watch has that capability, too!
week 3 in New York | the food issue
a list of everywhere i’ve had a bite or a drink at during my third week in New York. this week was my final push and it’s safe to say i absolutely crushed. 21 new spots with my thoughts down below.
