Friday Morning R&R | 8
a new east bay bar/restaurant, the importance of hyping up your friends, and two songs i've been listening to on repeat
hi! happy friday! literally the minute i sat down to write this note to you, i smelled something funky and realized i was burning my last two pieces of prosciutto in the toaster oven. now my house is filled with smoke and i’m sad, thinking about what could have been. it’s not often i have prosciutto in the house. i’m sure you really care! anyway, below is my weekly report and roundup. hope you enjoy!
!!! you won’t be receiving an email next friday because i’ll be on vacation. even when i travel, i make an effort to get content out to everyone… but this particular trip requires me to be offline offline. looking forward to dishing about it when i’m back!
R — i love reading personal essays written by people i don’t know but whose experiences feel akin to my own. this essay reminded me of how bold i used to be in my late teens/early twenties. one time, i gave my number to a life guard at a cess-pool of a water park called Wild Rivers and we had a phone romance for 4 days. another time - on my 17th birthday at The Spaghetti Factory - i gave the server my number and then got too scared to text him back. if you’re wondering why i went to The Spaghetti Factory for my 17th birthday… same.
E — Thom recommended we hit a new bar/restaurant in Oakland for dinner this week. they serve hot dogs and martinis… brilliant concept. other notable items: popcorn, chips & dip, and a very reinvent-the-wheel wedge salad. i know my bay area folks are always looking for dope spots… check this one out!
P — i am fully on the Chappel Roan bandwagon and i’m not ashamed. it feels like she actually blew up overnight? one day i heard her song, and the next day everyone was talking about her. her fun music makes me feel happy and her sad music makes me sad, what else can you ask for? listening to: Red Wine Supernova and Coffee on repeat.
O — i’m training for a race right now and i track my process with close friends. i got the sweetest text from one of them this week that reminded me how obsessed i am with hyping people up. if you’re reading this, you should text one of your friends and hype them up, even if there’s no reason for it! it’s important!
R — you can always count on me to bring non-alcoholic goodies to girls night, and i’m loving these right now. a great sober-curious hack is keeping some NA cans in your fridge at all times if you randomly want a lil drink and don’t want to go through the process of making a mocktail.
T — in preparation for my vacation next week i treated myself to a new clothing item. i haven’t received it yet (and just got a tracking notification that it’s set to arrive the day i leave, fml) so i can’t totally recommend it, but it seems like a crowd pleaser and i’m obsessed with the color!
recipe roundup
i rounded out my nyc market series this week and i’m obsessed with all of the recipes i made. they’re simple and perfect for summer. all recipe videos can be found on my instagram.
Blistered Shishito Peppers & Ricotta Toast
it’s ugly but it’s so good. i don’t know if you can put ricotta onto toast without it tasting amazing, but blistered shishito peppers are a vibe.
Grated Tomato Toast & Warm Olives
all about aperitivo hour, even without the alcohol. grated tomato toast with anchovies is a staple in Spain. add some warm olives and an NA spritz & ur good to goooo.
Salmon Sashimi, Peaches & Chives
i never posted this to instagram, but it’s simply just peaches, salmon sashimi, chives, olive oil, salt and lemon juice. such an easy and fresh snack!

the below post included recipes for key lime margaritas, cowboy caviar, and double berry tiramisu.
sending lots of love and wishing you all a great weekend/next week. looking forward to chatting when i’m back from my trip!
the way that I love a hype text! it's truly one of my favorite aspects of female friendship—cheering each other on, recognizing each other's brilliance, and basking in all the love and support.
enjoyed this post!
wow I have not thought about wild rivers in *years*
