i went to Copenhagen on a solo trip for my birthday earlier this year and i was inspired by literally everything, but most of all the food. i think i had some form of cardamom pastry every single day i was there and i knew, even though i live halfway across the world, i wanted to bring Copenhagen to my home this Christmas.

these are my homemade cardamom and orange cinnamon rolls. i tested them three times over three days (yes, i turned into a cinnamon roll) so you can be sure they’re perfect. the best part is that they can be made in one morning or you can whip everything up the night before and just pop in the oven the next day.

they’re topped with a light and delicious cardamom and orange cream cheese frosting. i love a cinnamon roll that is substantial without being too heavy, and these are just that. i’m making them for Christmas morning breakfast this year, and i hope you get a chance to share them with people you love, too!

Cardamom Orange Cinnamon Rolls

ingredients

these buns were tested using grams (with a food scale) instead of cups and i highly recommend making them this way, as it’s much more accurate. however, if you don’t own a food scale, i’ve listed out the approximate measurements using measuring cups!

dough:
  • Honey: 1tbsp (20g)

  • Active Dry yeast OR Instant Yeast* (see notes): 1.5 tsp (5g)
