i’ve been alcohol-free for four summers now, and this might be my favorite party hack. deli container mocktails are an easy, low-lift drink idea. they’re fun to sip and made all in one container so there’s hardly any mess and you can make multiple at a time. and they’re endlessly customizable, too. for friends who are drinking, you can add a splash of vodka, tequila, or gin to the mix. everyone gets a drink, no one feels left out. my kinda party! enjoyyyy.

Deli Container Mocktails, two ways
makes 1 generous serving per mocktail
Blueberry Lemon Thyme Cooler
ingredients
1 lemon, sliced into eights
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
4 sprigs fresh thyme
1-2 oz honey syrup (see below)
handful of ice (as much as you need to fill the container)
1/2 cup cold water
coconut water (to top off, about 1/2 cup)
method
in a 32oz deli container, add lemon slices, blueberries, thyme, and honey syrup. muddle everything together until the lemon is juicy and the blueberries are mostly smashed.
fill the container with ice.
pour in cold water and coconut water.
seal the lid tightly, then shake.
punch a straw-sized hole in the top (i use this puncher) and sip straight from the container.
Watermelon Mint Fizz
ingredients
3/4 cup chopped watermelon (small cubes)
1 lime, cut into eights
small handful of mint leaves
1-2oz honey syrup (see below)
handful of ice
1/2 cup cold water
sparkling water (to top, about 1/2 cup)
method
in a 32oz deli container, add watermelon, lime, mint, and honey syrup. muddle until the watermelon is broken down and the lime is releasing juice.
add ice, then top with water and sparkling water.
snap on the lid and give it a vigorous shake.
punch a hole in the top, pop in a straw, and enjoy!
honey syrup (makes enough for a few drinks)
mix 1/4 cup honey with 1/4 cup warm water. stir until fully dissolved. this is done so that the honey doesn’t seize up when you add ice to your drink.
