the past week has seen me engaging in a lot of introspection, and i’ve given plenty of thought to how, as humans, our main goal seems to be happy. but with such an abstract desire guiding our way, we attach ourselves to the tangible things that seem to represent this pursuit. people, jobs, places, things, and ideas that we assume will bring us joy. (or rather, are “supposed” to fulfill that need.) but in the end, it just hurts us.
for type a-ers like myself (and i have to imagine many of you reading), this is a feeling we constantly struggle with. so i want to invite you to challenge it and try to shift into something different. take a look at what’s in your life right now: the people, your job, your routine—all of it. instead of asking yourself what’s missing? how can i add more to my life to feel happier? how can i do more? try to find gratitude for what is.
