Hot Dog Toppings, 3 ways
this is how you win a BBQ. peach giardenara, castelvetrano tapenade, red pepper & shallot relish.
the biggest crime you can commit during the summer season is hosting a BBQ and not providing guests with a variety of hot dog toppings. a few months ago i attended a BBQ and decided that instead of showing up with a sad pack of buns or the world’s 8th bowl of pasta salad, i would make a fun little topping for everyone’s dogs.

unsurprisingly, it was a hit. so i knew i had to develop a little topping flight for all of you! make one of them or make all 3. you can prep a few days in advance as they all keep well in the fridge, but they’re also super simple to put together day-of.

on the menu we have: a peach giardiniera for the crunch, castelvetrano tapenade for the briny heat, and a sweet, jammy red pepper + shallot relish that goes with everything. repeat after me: no! more! boring! dogs! it’s not a competition, but this is how you win the bbq.
(also!! all 3 topping recipes work as leftovers, too! they’re the perfect item to have in your fridge to spice up any meal you make for yourself throughout the week. below i’ll share how i repurposed mine for dinners throughout the week).
