knowing yourself well enough to make decisions that feel GOOD for YOU is like, the coolest thing ever. heading into a holiday weekend’s that revolve around alcohol (like Cinco De Mayo, formerly known as ‘Cinco De Drinko’ in college) can be stressful if you’re choosing not to drink or if you’re feeling called to cut back on your alcohol consumption.
take it from me: trusting that you know what’s best for yourself and making it known to others is not embarrassing, it’s cool. it helps when you have a drink that looks dope no matter what’s in it. this margarita is made non-alcoholic but just add a couple ounces of tequila/mezcal and it tastes juuuust as good. do YOU this weekend and regardless of how you make it, i hope you get to enjoy this drink!
ingredients// makes 2
1/2 large cucumber
1/2 cup water
—
4oz cucumber juice
3oz coconut water
3oz water (or tequila/mezcal)
2oz lime juice
1/2 holland chili pepper or jalapeño, sliced
1oz honey syrup (honey + hot water)
ice
method//
add salt to a plate and zest 1 lime over it. mix together with your hands until the salt has soaked up all of the moisture from the lime zest. then, dip the rim of your glass in honey or coat the rim with lime and coat it in your lime salt. set in the freezer to chill.
slice cucumber and add it to a blender with water. blend (or immersion blend) until you get a puree - if it doesn’t feel liquid-y enough, just add more water! strain it TWICE until you get really clear-green cucumber juice.
add cucumber juice, honey syrup (which is just equal parts honey and hot water mixed together), coconut water, water or tequila, lime juice, a few slices of chili pepper or jalapeño and ice to a shaker. shake until chilled.
remove your glass from the freezer and add an ice cube. i made chili ice cubes with THIS clear ice maker, but that’s not necessary! pour your drink into your glass over ice.
