the classiest NA drink you’ll make this winter.
ingredients (makes 2)
4oz NA rum
2oz spiced simple syrup
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 cinnamon stick
4 allspice pods
2 whole cloves
3 oz grapefruit juice
1 egg white
2 oz lime juice
star anise, to garnish
method
combine the sugar and water in a saucepan with the spiced syrup.
turn the heat on low and stir until the sugar is dissolved. remove star anise and turn heat down. simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. remove from heat and let cool for at least 30 minutes. strain and bottle up.
to make the drink: place your glasses in the freezer to chill. add rum, spiced syrup, grapefruit juice, lime juice and 1 egg white (or 1oz aquafaba if plant-based) to a shaker. give it a dry shake for 30 seconds. then, add ice and shake again until the shaker is cold. strain your drink into your chilled glasses and garnish with star anise.
This is SO good! I substituted apple juice for the NA rum, and tastes just like a cozy winter daiquiri. definitely going to be drinking this throughout the winter!
