when i decided to slow down on drinking, one of the wildest things was how chill everyone around me was about it. i thought it’d be a big deal, but 3 years later, it’s no questions asked and no pressure which has been such a relief. i have had some awkward moments, though: like having to say “haha, no thanks!” when stuck in a circle of people slapping the bag. the real question is: how am i getting myself into these situations in the first place? i digress.
but let’s be real, i still love having a drink in hand that makes me feel part of the fun, which is why i’m a mocktail queeeen. muddled fig and fresh sage give this drink an earthy sweetness, balanced by some of my fave NA alternatives to give it a warm, spicy kick. it’s a festive drink that feels just right for chilly evenings, whether you’re hosting a gathering or just chilling on the couch. this drink recipe is the perfect sip for the fall season and upcoming thanksgiving holiday!
below includes a non-alcoholic, alcoholic, and low-abv option because i know there’s a lot of you looking for more balance or wanting to make drinks for yourself, your partners, and friends who all have different needs! my favorite NA options are linked below as well.
Fig & Sage Spiced Mocktail
(full recipe, step by step pictures & grocery list below)

ingredients
1 fig, muddled
3 sage leaves, muddled
3/4oz maple syrup
3/4 oz lemon juice
1oz Lyre’s Orange Sec (Cointreau works here!)
2oz Seedlip Spice 94 (Cinnamon Whiskey would be great! 1oz for low-abv)
1/2oz espresso or black coffee
method
in a shaker, muddle the fig, sage leaves and maple syrup until well combined. add the lemon juice, Orange Sec, Seedlip Spice, and espresso.

fill the shaker with ice and shake well for about 10-15 seconds. then, strain into a glass over a large ice cube. i used this snake ice cube tray - it’s fun, but the snakes don’t come out super defined. something to note. garnish with a sage leaf or a thin slice of fig! enjoyyyy!

Love the flavor combo!
