hi! how’d the first week of December go for everyone? everyone is asking for a pupdate, so here ya go: honestly, November was a tough month. it was all puppy, all the time. but we’re slowly starting to figure out a routine that works for all of us. the best news is that Frankie got her FINAL ROUND OF SHOTS yesterday, which means we’re only days away from being able to take her walking outside! hallelujah!

a few housekeeping items:
if you live in SF, make sure you have email notifications turned on - there will be an email going out December 16th for a special event i’m hosting with limited tickets. newsletter subscribers will be the first to access!
i’ll be hosting a Dry January group here on Substack during the entire month of January! each week will be themed and there will be weekly recipes, weekly happy hours where i’ll go live on the app and we can chat about discussion questions/journal prompts, and make mocktails together (or you can just sign on and listen/observe). keep an eye out for more info!

R — one of my favorite Substack’s i subscribe to is by . her food photos are absolutely stunning, and her recipes are truly innovative and approachable. just another writer i wish i was friends with IRL.
E — my boyfriend’s mom taught me how to make Dutch Split Pea Soup. it’s so fkn good and i’m definitely going to film a video of it so everyone has the recipe!
P — we took on a very intense feat last week and decided to rewatch Harry Potter from the beginning to the end. smartest decision we’ve made in a while. except we just got to Order of the Phoenix so now it’s getting sad & dark :/
O — i’ve talked about Negative before but they just came out with a new colorway and i’m obsessed. i got my favorite whipped track pant and a whipped henley. truly the only christmas pajamas you need.
R — if you missed it, i came out with a short gift guide last weekend! it’s curated intentionally with gifts i love or would love to get.
T — omg i found out babaa was having a holiday sale (it’s over now) and i treated myself to a new sweater. they recently came out with men’s sweaters which is HUGE for me because the women’s sweaters aren’t as oversized as i’d like. really excited about this and will show pics once it arrives!
Recipe Roundup
it was a good week for recipes on this little corner of the internet! a homemade cardamom latte with salted cardamom marshmallows, a creamy broccoli & cheddar butter bean skillet, and a spiced pomegranate and blood orange sorbet. ENJOY!
Cardamom Latte with Homemade Salted Cardamom Marshmallows
i think it’s important - honestly, crucial - to have a coffee recipe that matches the season you’re in. getting out of bed is just easier when you have a morning drink you’re looking forward to. and i stand by that. also nobody told me how EASY it is to make homemade marshmallows. another one of those things i grew up thinking only came in plastic bags.
Creamy Broccoli & Cheddar Butter Bean Skillet
if December symbolizes anything to me, it’s sweets. cookies, pies, tarts, you name it, i’m eating it. i also realize that i should mix some veggies in there, at least at dinner or something. if i’m gonna have tons of greens, though, hide them from me. i don’t need to know they’re there. if you’re like me, here’s the perfect recipe for you.
Spiced Pomegranate & Blood Orange Sorbet with Magic Chocolate Shell
one of my goals at the top of 2024 was to live life a little simpler. now that we’re nearing the end of the year i’m thinking about all the ways i put that into practice. by doing a little less and buying a little less i began to desire a lot less, and funny enough, my life became filled with so much more.
Can’t wait to hear about the event!
In my mind, we are IRL friends!
