I feel like I'm hearing more and more from people who're in their late bloomer/starting over era. It's always so validating to get this reminder that we're all just trying to figure things out.

The first section of this week's newsletter hit me hard as I'm celebrating a birthday today. I love the idea of not having it all figured out and embracing the mystery and joys of life!! Your newsletters light up my week and I've even gotten my boyfriend onboard :) Thank you for being the literal only "social media" girl I adore and follow adamantly. You are amazing! Also going to Copenhagen in a few weeks (only for a couple days) but we are SO excited!

Hi, Olivia. I am 30. I am also the picture of adulthood you painted here - engaged getting married this year, bought our first home last year, tiny dog owner (haha!) saving for kids and tiptoeing into investments for the long term future.

Yet, somehow, I’m still not adult enough. My therapists hears me say week after week how much of a child I still feel, how everything sort of crumbled down when I was the Responsible Adult on my life - and to be honest, when I found out the More Adult Adults also had no idea what they were doing.

Having a roadmap is also scary, because I’m constantly afraid of failing my idea for myself. I love the life I created, but turning 31 seems really scary anyways. I guess we’re on the same boat, even if ones decide to hold a map while other navigate freely.

Thank you for the text, I love it!

Manoela, hi! i love this perspective!! thank you for sharing your story with me (& others!) - sometimes the grass feels greener and then we get over the hill and realize we're all kind of dealing with the same thing in our own unique ways. sending you lots of love!

To preface, I have absolutely no problem with Beyonce in country. Like we said nothing about Taylor switching genres, or Nelly working with Tim McGraw. Typically I feel country music welcomes pop artists/other artists who want to put out a country song, so the notion that Beyonce can't is only explained by racism and misogyny to me. However, I hated the linked article claiming that black people "invented" country music. It seemed misinformed and ranty. Country music was actually originally played by poor settlers from Western Europe who lived in the hills of southern states, like West Virginia. When I think of country origins, I think of poor white people gathering around and listen to the village men play on some kind of stringed instrument.

What we know as country today was 100% influenced by Black people, and the way Black people have contributed to country music is undeniable, again making it very stupid that anyone has a problem with an R+B artist in country. But the notion that Black people "invented" country just felt like it needed to be fact checked.
