hi friends! in true holiday fashion, i thought Friday was Thursday and Saturday was Friday, so here we are. anyway, this is the last Friday Morning Report of the year! it’s wild to think that i started these back in April.
2024 has flown by - i usually spend December reflecting on the year… my highlights & what i learned, but honestly life is so busy with a puppy that i haven’t had much time for my normal end of the year reflection. that’ll just have to happen in January, if it happens at all.
here’s what you have to look forward to in 2025…
DRY JANUARY GROUP! 🥂✨
i’m so excited to be hosting a Dry January Group here on Substack. paid subscribers can join the group chat (below) where i’ll pop in every single day in January with some words of encouragement, a journal prompt, or an exclusive mocktail recipe. this chat will be our little corner of support throughout the month. i’d love for you all to share your journey too—post pics of your mocktails, vent about tough moments, celebrate the wins (big and small), and ask for advice when you need it. if you’re still on the fence about doing Dry Jan or thinking about doing Damp Jan, you’re more than welcome to join!!
this is our space to connect and cheer each other on. if you the chat is about to go wildddd 🔥
i’ll also be hosting two live happy hours over the month where you can make a mocktail with me, or sip on whatever you’ve got and watch me make a mess in the kitchen. during those happy hours, we’ll be chatting all things Dry Jan and just shooting the shit. i’m so excited. stay tuned for more info.
If you live in San Francisco…
make sure you snag a ticket to my Non Alc Winter Aperitivo Event with The New Bar on January 16th! i’m opening presale to subscribers before i post on instagram, so make sure you buy your ticket asap before they sell out! it’s going to be a super fun event with mixology, fondue fountains, a Q+A, and lots of gifts. come hang!
now, onto the Friday Morning Report:

R— my good friend Zaynab Issa is releasing a book in 2025. it’s available for preorder and it’s going to be incredible. read her conversation with one of my favorite writers,
, here!E— every winter i make Julius Robert’s 5 ingredients chorizo, leek, and potato soup. it’s legit the best and so incrediblcfxy easy to make.
P— truly couldn’t recommend this app more for quick meditation. i’m really trying to get up earlier in the mornings and meditate for just 10 minutes, if i can. it really helps me move through my day in a less psycho state, lol.
O— my friend came out with a small business gift guide and turned me onto these mohair socks. i bought two pairs as gifts, saw them, felt them… and now i want to keep them for myself.
R—these blankets are hella expensive but we are so obsessed with ours. the minutes Frankie sits on it she begins to relax.. it’s the cutest thing. they have dog blankets & beds so we bought Frankie a blanket for Christmas. i have a code: ‘NOCEDA’ for 40% off the entire website!
T—i made my Nuts & Bolts Chocolate Chips Cookies twice this week. one batch i made with m&m’s and oatmeal and no surprise, they’re delicious.
Recipe Roundup
below are some recipes i highly recommend whipping up next week! happy holidays!
Cardamom Orange Cinnamon Rolls
i went to Copenhagen on a solo trip for my birthday earlier this year and i was inspired by literally everything, but most of all the food. i think i had some form of cardamom pastry every single day i was there and i knew, even though i live halfway across the world, i wanted to bring Copenhagen to my home this Christmas.
Cardamom Latte with Homemade Salted Cardamom Marshmallows
i think it’s important - honestly, crucial - to have a coffee recipe that matches the season you’re in. getting out of bed is just easier when you have a morning drink you’re looking forward to. and i stand by that. also nobody told me how EASY it is to make homemade marshmallows. another one of those things i grew up thinking only came in plastic bags.
Nuts & Bolts Chocolate Chip Cookies 🍪🎄
i had big plans to throw a huge cookie party this year. for the uninitiated, a cookie party is basically an excuse to bake an absurd amount of cookies, invite everyone you know, and spend hours swapping recipes and eating way too much sugar. it’s joyful chaos, and i was ready for it. but instead, we decided to turn our lives upside down and rescue a puppy.
Christmas Crack Baked Brie
every year around the holidays i comit to making a dish that takes me less than 20 minutes but is still somehow everyone’s favorite appetizer at the end of the night. last year i came up with something i call savory Christmas Crack - it’s a combination of pomegranate seeds, castelvetrano olives, walnuts, pine nuts and fresh dill.
Miso Gingerbread Mocktail
it’s important to me that people who choose to. drink a little less during the holiday season feel like they have options. sometimes showing up at a party can feel stressful and isolating. and just because you’re limiting your alcohol consumption doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice flavor or complexity.
Bone Broth Hot Chocolate
trust me when i tell you it’s actually so good and you cannot taste the bone broth!
Spiced Pomegranate & Blood Orange Sorbet with Magic Chocolate Shell
one of my goals at the top of 2024 was to live life a little simpler. now that we’re nearing the end of the year i’m thinking about all the ways i put that into practice. by doing a little less and buying a little less i began to desire a lot less, and funny enough, my life became filled with so much more.
Thanks for including my conversation with Zaynab! Very excited about her book!
